As the name suggests, the Solah Somvar Vrat Katha & Puja are to be performed on 16 consecutive Mondays. This Vrat Katha & Puja is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati and it is believed that performing these Vrat Katha & Puja are highly beneficial for fulfillment of wishes by the blessings of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. As per Ancient Vedic Texts, Prayers offered to Lord Shiva and Devi Parvati on Mondays are especially fruitful for unmarried girls for getting a desired Life partner especially if they are done on 16 consecutive Mondays. The worshipper is supposed to observe Fast on Monday and recite the Somvar Vrat Katha which relates the story of Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati and a priest who was relieved from the curse of Goddess Parvati by the blessings of Lord Shiva.
However, sometimes inspite of best of intentions, a person is himself unable to observe fast and other related rituals of Somvar Vrat Katha & Puja due to various reasons. Under such circumstances, one of our Brahmins can observe fast and perform all the other rituals of Somvar Vrat including the recitation of Somvar Vrat Katha after taking Sankalp in the clients name. In this way, a person can get the benefits ( punyafal ) of Somvar Vrat even though he himself is not in a situation to observe it due to reasons beyond his control.

Navgrah Mantra Japa (1 mala for each planet), Somvar Vrat Katha, Mantra Japa for Lord Shiva (Om Namah Shivaya), Recitation of Rudra Ashtakam, Shiva-Gauri Yantra Puja, Lord Shiva & Goddess Parvati Puja, Homam with Honey, Ghee, Sugar, Til, Ashtagandh, Sandalwood powder, Navgrah Samidha and then Purnahuti, Aarti and Prasad to Brahmin
