Shri Ramcharitmanas also known as Shri Ramayana is an epic written by Tulsidas (also known as Goswami Tulsidas) was a Hindu poet-saint, reformer and philosopher of 16th Century renowned for his devotion for the God Rama. Originally, the Ramayana was written by Sage Valmiki in Sanskrit language. Tulsidas was acclaimed in his lifetime to be a reincarnation of Valmiki, the composer of the original Ramayana in Sanskrit. Shri Ram Charit Manas is a great Epic which describes the Life of Lord Rama who was the 7th incarnation of Lord Vishnu (Supreme God in Hinduism). Lord Rama is also known as “Purushottam” means supreme Purush (personality). Lord Rama is the perfect Avatar of Lord Vishnu and has been described as the embodiment of truth, morality, an ideal son, an ideal husband and overall an ideal King. Lord Rama is Prayed upon as the :
” One who removes all types of adversity and agony of Jiva (living beings); who bestows all types of favour, honor and wealth; By looking at whom, the world feel very pleased; to that Shri Rama, I bow again and again “
This epic Ramcharitmanas is divided into seven chapters known as Kaands whose names are as follows :
• Baal Kaand
• Ayodhya Kaand
• Aranya Kaand
• Kishkindha Kaand
• Sunderkaand
• Lanka Kaand
• Uttar Kaand
As per Hindus, a mere recitation of this great Epic Ramayana is considered highly auspicious and removal of various obstacles. It is considered that the benefits of reciting this Epic are increased manifold if it is recited continuously from starting to end without any break in between which takes around 24 hours. Navgrah Mantra Japa (1 mala for each planet), Shri Ramcharitmanas (Shri Ramayana) Akhand Path for continuous 24 hours followed by an additional recitation of “Sunderkaand Path” to mark the end of Akhand Ramayana Path followed by Homam with Honey, Ghee, Sugar, Til, Ashtagandh, Sandalwood powder, Navgrah Samidha and then Purnahuti, Aarti, Prasad to Brahmins
