As per our ancient Texts and Scripts, Sri Rudram is the oldest vedic hymn of various names of Lord Shiva. Various aspects of Lord Shiva are invoked and worshipped through the chanting of Sri Rudram. When a fire ritual (Yagna) is performed after the chanting, it is called as Rudra Yagna (Homam). This is one of the most powerful Puja for seeking the blessings of Lord Shiva for getting relief from any kind of problem and all the desires fulfilled with Lord Shiva’s blessings.
By performing this Puja, a person gets good health, wealth and happiness. He is protected from all kinds of Evil effects and Enemies. His relations with all those who are near and dear to him are improved and he gets a peace of mind and also improvement at a spiritual level.
Lord Shiva is the third deity in the Hindu trilogy, along with Lord Brahma and Vishnu. He is the destroyer of all evil, and the one who bestows the greatest blessings when pleased. The month of Shravan is dedicated to Lord Shiva and performing this Puja and Homam during this period is even more beneficial.
Procedure of Maha Rudrabhishek Puja
Swasti Vachan, Shanti Path, Sankalp, Ganesh Sthapan, Kalash Sthapan, Lord Shiva Sthapan, Navgrah Sthapan, Brahma Sthapan, Agni Sthapan, Invocation of all Gods & Goddesses, Navgrah Mantra Japa (1 mala for each planet), Shiv Rajopachar Puja, One hunderd twenty one ( 121 ) Path of Rudra with Chamkam, Lord Shiva’s Abhishek ( Archana ) with 1008 Bilva Patras (Shiv Shastranam Archana ), Maha Mrityunjaya Yantra Pujan, Homam with Ghee, Sugar, Til, Oats ( Jow ), Ashtagandh, Sandalwood powder, Navgrah Samidha and then Purnahuti, Aarti and Prasad to Brahmins
