What it is
Naamkaran is the samskara in which the child is given a name the family will use. Some households do it on the eleventh or twelfth day, and many urban families choose a later shubh day once relatives can gather. This page is the later kind of help. It lists days in the year when the naming rules are met, and you still have to respect the baby health and the mother rest.
The city defaults to Mumbai. Change it to the home where the naming will happen so sunrise is local. The windows are daytime only. A name spoken at a family lunch fits the list better than a midnight call, which this finder does not score.
Which rules are applied
Tithis allowed are Dwitiya, Tritiya, Panchami, Saptami, Dashami, Ekadashi, and Trayodashi. Weekdays are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Nakshatras for naamkaran are a wide gentle set: Ashwini, Rohini, Mrigashira, Punarvasu, Pushya, Hasta, Chitra, Swati, Anuradha, Shravana, Dhanishta, Revati, and the Uttara stars often used for names. Harsh yogas are excluded.
Kharmas, Adhik maas, Bhadra, Rahu Kaal, Amavasya, and combust Guru or Shukra are checked. Panchak is not a block for naming on this page, and Chaturmas is not a block either. A naming can therefore appear in months where weddings are closed. That is deliberate. Do not copy a naamkaran date onto a vivah card.
How to use the list
If the family wants the traditional early day, count from the birth tithi with your priest first, then see whether that civil date also appears here. If it does not, the priest may still prefer the traditional count, and this calendar should not overrule a family custom you already follow. If the early day has passed, use the month filter to find the next gathering the grandparents can attend.
Open the reason before you print the invitation line. Guests rarely need the yoga name, but the parents often want to know it was checked. A short window means keep the ritual compact. A long window means you can include the meal without leaving the shubh hours.
Say the name clearly once, at a moment inside the window, and do not rush a second spelling while people are still arriving. Write the spelling down beforehand so an elder does not invent a new one at the lamp. If the baby is asleep, a quiet speaking of the name still counts. Noise is not one of the classical conditions on this list.
What this list does not decide
The finder does not invent the name. Sound, deity, and the birth nakshatra of the child are a separate consultation. A shubh day for the ceremony is not proof that every syllable is supportive. Bring the proposed names to a personal sitting if you want them judged.
Both charts are not required in the same way as a wedding, yet the child chart still matters for the name itself. Yes. Chaturmas is a wedding block here. Naming is still subject to Kharmas, Bhadra, Rahu Kaal, and the other shared checks.
Does the page choose the baby name?
It chooses timing only. The name itself should be discussed with the birth chart, not copied from the weekday.
Are night namings listed?
No. Windows end at sunset. If your custom is a lamp after dark, ask for a personal muhurat rather than stretching a daytime row.
